Dr. Rachel Sam is from New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Sam is currently the Associate Director for the Louisiana Educate Program Center and serves as the Senior Academic Success Coach. She has previously worked at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as an Academic Counselor, at Nicholls State University as an Area Coordinator for Freshmen Programs, and at Bethune-Cookman University as a Residence Life Coordinator. Dr. Sam has a Doctor of Education with a concentration in Higher Education Administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Higher Education Administration from LSU, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Louisiana Tech University. She is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, AERA (American Educational Research Association), RAMP (Research Association for Minority Professors), LACUSPA (Louisiana Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators), LERA (Louisiana Educational Research Association), NCORE (National Conference on Race & Ethnicity), the UL Black Faculty and Staff Association, the UL Diversity Advisory Council, the Hillard Art Museum Education Advisory Council, and Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Incorporated.

Ms. Mya Hall is from Opelousas, Louisiana. Ms. Hall serves as the Administrative Coordinator 3 for the Louisiana Educate Program Center and manages the front desk operations. She has previously worked at The Family Tree as a Case Manager, Cadence of Acadiana as a Support Coordinator, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as a Undergraduate Student Worker for the Vice President of Enrollment Management. Ms. Hall has a Bachelor of Science in Child & Family Studies with a minor in Spanish from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Counselor Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a member of the UL Alumni Chapter and an avid book blogger in her spare time.

Ms. Allison Marcel is from Lafayette, Louisiana. Ms. Marcel is currently an Academic Success Coach for the Louisiana Educate Program. She serves as an Adjunct Instructor for the Health & Wellness online course. Ms. Marcel has a Master of Science in Health, Recreation and Sports Management from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a Bachelor of Science in Health & Physical Education Grade K-12 from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has previously worked at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the Special Services Department as an Upward Bound Math/Science Academic Counselor and the Veterans Upward Bound program as an Academic Counselor and Recruiter. She is a member of UL Alumni Association, member of Black Faculty and Staff Association, a member of Louisiana Education Research Association, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Dr. Carrie Chretien is from New Orleans, Louisiana. Dr. Chretien is currently our LEP Scholars' UNIV 100 instructor and serves as an Academic Success Coach for the Louisiana Educate Program. She meets with the LEP freshmen twice a week as an Adjunct Instructor for the UNIV 100 Mastering the First-Year Experience Freshman Seminar with the Office of First-Year Experience. Dr. Chretien has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in General Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She has previously worked at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as an Academic Counselor for the TRIO SSS STEM, served as a Teacher at Iberia Parish School Board, and also worked at Blue Cliff College as a Financial Aid Officer. She is a member of the UL Alumni Association and RAMP (Research Association of Minority Professors) and has presented her research nationally at various conferences across the nation.

Mr. Jorden Melton is from New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Melton is an Academic Success Coach for the Louisiana Educate Program. He serves as an Adjunct Instructor for the UNIV 100 Mastering the First-Year Experience Freshman Seminar with the Office of First-Year Experience. Mr. Melton has a Master of Science concentrating in Human Services Administration (MHSA) from the Wilmington University and a Bachelor of Science in General Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He has previously worked at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as an Academic Counselor for the TRIO Student Support Services, Upward Bound, and Educational Talent Search programs. He served as a Teacher with St. Landry Parish School Board and at Catholic Charities of Acadiana as a Programs Supervisor. He is a member of the UL Alumni Association and a current graduate student here with UL-Lafayette’s Higher Education Administration doctorate program, where he has presented his dissertation research at LACUSPA and RAMP conferences. He is a member of Black Faculty Staff Association (BFSA) and the UL Alumni Chapter.

Ms. Nicole Pillette is from Abbeville, Louisiana. Currently, she serves as an Academic Success Coach for the Louisiana Educate Program. Ms. Nicole holds a Master of Art in Communication with an emphasis in Education from Grand Canyon University. Additionally, she earned a Bachelor of General Studies with a specialization in Behavioral Science and a minor in Applied Sciences from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. With 10 years of experience in admissions and recruitment at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Ms. Nicole brings expertise to her role. Beyond her background, Ms. Nicole possesses professional experience including sales, teaching, mental health and healthcare. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, crafting, photography and event planning – outlets that bring her joy and fulfillment. Ms. Pillette is a member of Omega Phi Alpha National Service Sorority and a member of the UL Alumni Association.
